I Am Going Up Come With Me is the most recent album released by High Five Spaceship. Much like the previous album MMCCXV, development began with a Kickstarter on 12 July 2017 with a goal of £4,000 to cover the costs of equipment and studio rentals, a physical release, and compensation for collaborators and artists. The codename (#YELLOWALBUM) referenced the fact that the previous two albums were primarily colored red and blue (primary colors). The goal was reached on 29 July 2017 and ultimately reached £4,822 and had 146 backers. Exclusive Kickstarter perks included access to a private Tumblr blog, a social media takeover by Chris Bingham himself, digital and physical bundles of previous albums, and even notebooks chronicling the development of the album (and one for Progress, among others. A separate Kickstarter was created specifically for a vinyl release, and raised £1,474 of the £1,000 goal.
During development, certain tracks (like Hegemonikon) were composed and mixed live on Chris' Twitch channel, even taking viewer input. Through the process, different titles were considered, including Grateful Little Life, High Five Spaceship/Self Titled, or after a track such as Hegemonikon or Pulp. The final title (taken from the dying words of philosopher Amos Alcott) was decided by October 2018 and announced in a Kickstarter update, along with the album art by Lindsay Campbell. Major collaborators include return performances by Bryarly, Daniel Dobbs, and Jennifer Bingham, as well as the vocals of Whitney Wolfe from the band Dear Ears.
Described as 'a summer mixtape about love, death, and the internet', IAGUCWM is part ultra-experimental, part ultra-autobiographical in the same way previous HFS releases have been. The track Mama Coco in particular is extraordinarily personal, describing the falling out - and ultimate reconcilliation - with a close childhood friend during the screening of Disney/Pixar's Coco.
Following the release, a bonus, making-of album and remix EP were also released. As promotion, a cover of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen was released to Soundcloud.
I Am Going Up Come With Me can be streamed on Bandcamp and Spotify.
No new updates about the physical release have been given since early 2020; it was presumably delayed or cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
